Introduction to the Gateway@COFA
The Gateway@COFA is a purpose-built, state of the art teaching, learning and studio/laboratory redevelopment which will transform art and design education in Australia to meet the growing demands of the global creative economy.
Located on the inner-Sydney campus the College of Fine Arts UNSW, Australia's leading art and design school, the project will facilitate innovative teaching and learning methods to mirror collaborative, digitally-connected professional practices in the fastest growing economic sector in the industrial world.
Interaction with Communities
The Gateway project, which fits perfectly into the City of Sydney Creative Precincts 2030 Plan, will also re-orient the COFA campus onto Oxford Street, one of Sydney's most significant traffic arteries and a key cultural corridor.
COFA’s extensive links to the community, through schools and TAFEs, continuing education classes, significant art and design exhibitions and globally accessible online course and collaborative programs, means facilities will be used to positive effect far beyond the core student body and the Paddington campus site.
Teaching and Learning
The new facilities will be used primarily for teaching and learning which will be enhanced in all courses. The Gateway@COFA will allow the College of Fine Arts UNSW to model a cutting-edge, real-world learning environment to ensure Australia's creative practitioners take a leadership role in the creative economy of the 21st century.
